Growing Gelato 45: flowering time, yield and breeder specs

Gelato 45 flowers in about 70 days for Barney’s Farm’s seed version and 9–10 weeks according to Weedmaps, finishing outdoors around early October. Seed sellers call it hardy and easy; expect a medium-sized, well-branched plant with dense, resinous flowers.1,2,3,4

What the plant is like

Expect dense, heavily frosted buds in deep green and purple: Weedmaps describes that coloring, AllBud heart-shaped forest-green buds with deep purple undertones and thin orange hairs, and Leafly dark green, occasionally blue flowers under a dusting of trichomes.2,5,6 Barney’s Farm says its version adapts to a wide range of growing techniques, and Helvetic Seeds says its version grows well indoors and outdoors.3,4

What to watch for

Mostly, which version you start with. Barney’s Farm gives 70 days of flowering where Weedmaps gives 9–10 weeks, and the seed Barney’s Farm sells today as plain Gelato, Blue Sunset Sherbert × Thin Mint GSC, is listed at 65–70 days.1,2,7 Helvetic Seeds’ and Barney’s Farm’s seeds are their own selections of a strain that began as a clone, so plants grown from them may not match flower sold from cuttings.1,4

Seeds and the law in the US

Under the amended federal definition of hemp, viable seeds from cannabis plants above 0.3% total THC, including THCA, are not hemp.8 Congress delayed that exclusion, with most of the new definition, from Nov 12 to Dec 11, 2026; only the exclusion of products with cannabinoids the plant cannot produce naturally starts on Nov 12.8,9 Home cultivation rules are set by each state. This site does not sell seeds.
